Why we do this

Volleyball in Cyprus lives in a dozen chats. We are bringing it into one place

VolleyWood started as a Telegram group and grew into one of the largest volleyball communities on the island. Tournaments, training and finding partners are still scattered across chats, spreadsheets and notes. We want everyone who plays, coaches or organises to share one space: one profile, one history, one schedule.

How it usually goes
  • Sign-up in a chat, a list by hand, someone gets lost
  • Pairs and groups on paper or in Excel
  • The court schedule is redone on the fly
  • Only those at the net know the score
  • Results are a photo of a table, impossible to find a week later
  • Training is "who's coming?" chats and a notebook of payments
How it goes with VolleyWood
  • Sign-up on the site; waitlist and confirmations handle themselves
  • Teams, groups and seeding in one click
  • The court schedule is built automatically
  • Live score on the tournament page, the TV and the stream
  • Results, score sheets and statistics are kept forever
  • Training bookings, check-ins, passes and debts in one place
Terms

Today everything is free. Completely

Every feature on this page is available at no cost: tournaments of any size, refereeing, live streams and the coaching section including Pro. No trial period, no hidden limits, no commission on your entry fees.

The portal does not take payments and does not stand between you and your players: you collect entry fees and training payments the way you always have, and the site simply helps you keep track.

Small tournaments and trainingFriendly, amateur, club and kids' events stay free. That is a principle.
Commercial tournamentsIn the future there may be a symbolic fee for large commercial tournaments, to cover servers and development. If that happens, we will tell you in advance and discuss it with you.
Open to dialogueMissing a format, a button or a report? Have an idea how to make things easier? Write to us: much of what is here came from requests like that.

A tournament in 10 minutes: a step-by-step builder

Any registered player can run their own tournament. The builder walks you through step by step and always shows on the right how many matches and rounds there will be, when you will finish and whether you will make it before the venue closes. Before publishing, it checks the settings and tells you what to fix.

Refereeing and statistics

A referee scoreboard on your phone, and the score sheet writes itself

Lite scoreboard

Score only: +1, −1, side-switch hints, end of set and match. Good when players referee themselves. Can be run from several phones at once.

Pro scoreboard

Serve, timeouts with a countdown, cards and "who won the point": attack, block, ace, opponent error. This builds each player's personal statistics.

Indoor 6×6

Line-up by zones, rotations, substitutions under FIVB rules, libero, timeouts, cards and the deciding set. The second referee sees the same scoreboard.

Who referees

A player in the match, resting teams, one or two referees from the organiser, line judges for indoor. Referees can be assigned to a whole court or to a single match.

Court tablet

One tablet per court, no account login needed. The referee enters their PIN or signs in with a QR code from their phone; after the match the tablet moves on to the next one by itself.

Scorer and score sheet

A separate scorer screen for every rally. Every match gets a score sheet: score progression, substitutions, timeouts, cards, corrections and who refereed.

Players and spectators

A tournament page people want to open

Before the start

Terms, entry fee, spots left, registration or waitlist, "Looking for a partner" and "Looking for players", a note that the event is filmed.

During play

"Now on court" with live scores, group tables, the playoff bracket, "My games and duties". A TV scoreboard for a big screen by the courts.

After

Final places and podium, match score sheets, "Tournament in numbers": the longest match, the closest fight, the biggest win.

Streams and partners

A YouTube stream with a scoreboard run by the referee

Live stream

  • A YouTube stream link per court or one for all
  • A scoreboard with score, sets and serve right in the picture (OBS)
  • The stream appears on the tournament page and ends by itself
  • Phone camera: ready-made addresses for every court
  • Control OBS from your account: start the stream, switch scenes
  • After the tournament: a recording of every match from the right second
  • Players know in advance that the tournament is filmed

Tournament sponsors

  • A title partner and partners with logos and links
  • Logos on the tournament page and on the TV scoreboard
  • Shown on stream during breaks, for as many seconds as you choose
  • A "Show sponsors" button at any moment

Sponsors belong to your tournament: the portal does not impose its own partners on you.

Coaches and schools

Training without "who's coming tomorrow?" chats

Anyone can become a coach, no approval needed. You set up a school (or work solo), groups and a schedule. Players find you in the catalogue and book themselves, and at the court you mark who came in a minute.

Groups and schedule

A rule like "Mon and Wed 19:00", and sessions are created automatically 8 weeks ahead. Spot limit, level, venue, one-off sessions.

Registration

Open, by a fixed roster or private by link. When a spot frees up, the first person on the waitlist is booked automatically and notified.

Check-in at the court

Came, late, no-show, in one tap. "Mark everyone", a player over the limit, cancelling a session, a change log.

Litefree
  • Up to 3 active groups and 1 venue
  • Booking, waitlist, three booking modes
  • Attendance check-ins and a log
  • Training history for each player
Proalso free for now
  • Unlimited groups and venues
  • A school team: coaches and assistants (assistants don't see money)
  • Moving sessions, substitute coaches, session plans and templates
  • A free cancellation window and "late cancellations"
  • Payments: drop-in prices, passes, cash and transfers, debts
  • Monthly report, attendance rate, "haven't come in a while", CSV export
  • Player card: attendance, payments, progress notes
Community

The more people in one place, the easier it is for everyone

Player profile

Tournaments, places, records, frequent partners and opponents, a breakdown of points. You can claim your old profile with past results.

Finding partners and players

"Looking for a partner", "Team needs a player", a "take me in" request, on the tournament page and in the shared list.

Directories

Players, coaches, schools and groups with filters by city, level and discipline.

Notifications

In the browser and in Telegram: entries, invitations, "you are refereeing", a moved session, a spot from the waitlist. Quiet hours at night.

Two languages

The whole site is in Russian and English. You can translate your own tournament texts too.

Like an app

Add the site to your home screen and it works like an app, with nothing to download from a store.

We are building this together, and we welcome help

VolleyWood is made by people who play themselves. If you like the idea of a shared volleyball space and want to help, you are welcome. Any contribution counts, even an hour a week.

  • Organisers and coaches: run a tournament or a season and tell us what is inconvenient
  • Referees and captains: test the scoreboards and rules in real matches
  • Developers and designers: new formats, screens and improvements
  • Translators: English and the community's other languages
  • Photo, video and streaming: help film tournaments
  • Partners and venues: support tournaments and the community

What we are still working on

The portal improves every week. Currently planned: the Side-out format, final stages for King of the Beach, reminders before a match and before registration closes, automatic translation of tournament texts. What comes next depends largely on your requests.
